The Frozen Expanse (Information).

Current and past events:

Under the shaded light of the moon, frequent reports of Drow movements become popular rumours over the plains and forests of Anphillia. The recently founded Druid settlement, Syntheria, became a place of persistent skirmishes between the Tree-Top Elves and their Dark cousins. With consistent support from certain Cleaven members and a few from Axfell , the Syntheria movement against the Drow grew and eventually attacks on the settlement lowered. The leader and founder of Syntheria, Sheldrara, reasoned that the attacks against her settlement were not only because of her support for a Drow Rebel, but because of something more sinister -The Portals.

The Syntherians uncannily uncovered three portals close to their tree-top settlement. After several months of examination Sheldrara ordered scouts into the portals to discern their interest and what lay beyond them. However, with every elf that entered the portals, none returned. Eventually Calren, partner to Sheladrara and co-founder of the settlement decided that he would send an expedition into the portals himself with the finest of the Syntherian people. The expedition was greeted with a great, flamboyant parade. Feasting of wine and find food was enjoyed by all, before a supportive prayer was offered to the final, and what they hoped would be a triumphant return. However, once Calren and those under his command entered the portal, they too did not return. Shattered in spirit, Sheldrara sought out the raising of barriers around the portals until they finally could discern what had happened to her people and most importantly to her, the husband she loved. Sheldrara remained adamant to reclaim the lost and persist in the cause and movement of the Syntherians.

Within the Underdark:

Word of the portals and the surfacer elves had reached the ears of some prominent figures within the Drow society. It is believed that such information was delivered by surfacers themselves, perhaps of factions Cleaven and Axfell or the now Militarised city of Ranzington. A certain Yathrin (priestess) of the house Mezzir, Delviir, deceived that the portals linked to lore on previous records about Anphillia. That within the deep recesses of the portal lay an artifact of significant power that used to belong to her house. Clutching at her chance to restore the now dwindled house of Mezzir back to its former glory, Delviir demanded that scouts raid and pillage the surface at night, capturing Syntherians and finding out more information. As for internal politics, she saw about the slaughter of any who opposed her views. A consistent war raged between the Surface Elves and the Drow for several months, until certain Cleaven members offered their support against the Drow Driving back the house of Mezzir, back into the recesses of the darkness. Infuriated that surfacers now dare roam the underdark fearlessly, the Mezzirs have hidden back into the shadow, reclaiming the underdark and discouraging intruders. Meanwhile Delviir plots to find a way into the Syntherian Enclave and secure what she believes to be her own, regaining a previously lost power.

Current Affairs:

After months of its enclosure Sheldrara finally lowered the magical barriers around the portal Calren was lost within. She has asked for his immediate return, or any information that detail his survival. Through magical means, and the support of Aren, an Elven Priestess of Cleaven, Sheldrara has discovered that beyond the portal lays a vast and desolate frozen wasteland. Little else is known what to expect But, it is expected only the finest warriors should enter the portal. Last of all, Sheldrara orders that any relics found, should either be destroyed or brought to her immediately.
